This is my senior thesis that I wrote over the course of my final year at LSU. I conducted an experiment under the guidance of my advisor and fearless leader, Dr Kathleen Searles to examine discrepancies between party alignment and ideology. The respondents were given new information regarding their own party alignment and their openness to voting for another party was recorded. In short, I found that when respondents were essentially told they were wrong about the party with which they most closely identified, they were willing to explore other options.
